Artfully Queer exhibition opening

Exhibition opening hours Wed - Sun 11th - 26th October 2025
Art Prize announcements and opening celebration. FREE event all ages. Prizes are awarded for best interpretations of the theme, RESISTANCE, in the following categories: Best In Show, Best 2D, Best 3D, Best Digital & Performance Art and the Working It Out Unifying Voice Award. Prizes judged by practicing Tasmanian LGBTIQA+ artists, crafts folk and designers will be announced at this opening event.

Crafternoons - special gallery edition
17th October 2pm – 4pm Gallery Crafternoon with the Curator
This is a special iteration of Working it Out’s Crafternoons Group. Crafternoons are held the first Friday of every month at Working It Out North Hobart. This is a special Crafternoon session with the Artfully Queer Curator (Phoebe Adams) in the Long Gallery at the Salamanca Arts Center, Battery Point during the Artfully Queer Exhibition. FREE event, just turn up with your crafting gear and/ or a willingness to craft together amongst the art and with your LGBTIQA+ and ally community.

​18th October 7:30pm Drag King Karaoke with the Back Door Boyz.
Come along and sing a song or two with the boyz in a gallery full of queer art! All welcome.
Drinks available to purchase from the TasPride Gallery Bar (any money raised from the bar goes to TasPride projects).
This event is FREE, however, the Back Door Boyz are Champions for Working It Out’s GiveOUT Day fundraising campaign and will be encouraging donations for Working It Out, Tasmania’s gender, sexuality and intersex support, education and advocacy service.

Gallery yoga for queer bodies
22nd October 6pm - 7:30pm Gallery Yoga for Queer Bodies
A beginner-friendly 75-minute Yin Yoga class. During our class, you’ll learn poses and exercises that support physical and mental wellbeing and explore a few basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Expect long holds of poses, mindfulness practices, stillness (sorry ADHDers, it’s good for you), queer joy, and a good shake.
Bring: comfy clothes and layers (socks and jumpers are great), a mat, and a thick blanket or bolster.
Mats and bolsters available to borrow (limited).
Taught by Soph (aka Dirty Damo). Soph is a queer yoga teacher from nipaluna/Hobart with nearly 10 years’ experience helping folks feel safe and at peace in their bodies and their minds.
KINSEY SCALES CHOIR REHEARSAL

The Kinsey Scales an LGBTIQA+ inclusive choir are having a special choir rehearsal surrounded by LGBTIQA+ art and culture 2pm - 5pm Saturday the 25th of October in the Long Gallery.
