Pride Film Fest is a program of LGBTIQ+ short films curated by Queer Screen and produced by Side Quest.  

 

This 90 minute film program includes: Animation, Coming of Age, Comedy, Documentary Profile, Documentary History, Drama, Drama/Comedy, Fantasy, Experimental and Thriller. 

A program of contemporary films from Australia, Canada, UK and USA with film content covering Lesbian, Gay Men, Bisexual Women, Pansexual, Transgender Men, Transgender Women, Non Binary, Genderqueer and Queer.

 

We are excited to be touring Pride Film Fest in 2026 to six locations in Tasmania. We acknowledge the generous financial support from Pride Foundation Australia and Working It Out Inc towards the costs of screening these films.  Side Quest is an unincorporated grass roots production team based in lutruwita/ Tasmania.

This inaugural tour launches on Saturday February 7th with a matinee screening at the Burnie Arts Centre and will kick off with guest speaker Rodney Croome and MC’d by Pussay Poppins, Barry Bothways & Gary Snow

Access

Burnie Arts Centre. An access ramp. Wheelchair access and seating that allows more room for the use of mobility aids are available. However, walking frames are not permitted in the auditorium, but may be used by patrons to help them to their seat. Ushers will store the walker and return it to the patron at the conclusion of the performance. 

Disabled Access to the Regional Art Gallery is at the main entrance on Wilmot Street.

Pussay Poppins is bringing Drag Bingo back to the North West Coast for Tasmanian Pride Month! Pussay will be doing a Bingo in Penguin after her appearance at the Burnie Pride Film Fest. Tickets to the Pride film fest can be found HERE

 

This event is intended for an adult audience as she can get rude, crude and outrageous....especially if your name is Sarah. This event is open to the queer community, their friends, families and allies.

Access

Paragon Theatre has a side entrance into the theatre from Little Orr St. With prior arrangement we can easily let people  in that door. There's plenty of parking on the other side of the theatre in the RSL car park. The Paragon has an accessible toilet at the back of the building which is accessed through the side door and is kept locked. The key is kept behind the bar and we generally escort guests to the toilet.

Access

There is very limited accessible access. The main door is up steps and whilst there is a temporary ramp at the back door suitable for strollers, and trolleys. To access the toilet inside there is a step down and there is no accessible toilet. There is a public accessible toilet on the street front.
