COUNTRY NETWORK
An Australia-wide social organisation offering hospitality and friendship to gay man and women, and home-hosting between members. Its activities include annual and half- yearly meetings in different states and regional social events during the year. THE LINK YOUTH HEALTH SERVICE
The Link is a service for young people aged 12 to 25. All their services are FREE and confidential and respectful. They have bathroom and laundry facilities, toiletries, a place to have your mail delivered, and financial assistance for some emergency medical costs. The Link assists with whole of health issues, AOD counselling and supported referrals. You can just come in and have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate there or grab some food that you can take with you. It is also the place that you can come to and have a confidential conversation with a youth health worker. The Link uses a harm reduction model, and includes a Needle Syringe Program and vein care support. The Link is also able to arrange prompt appointments with private Psychologists, GPs, sexual health clinic and osteopath, at headspace Hobart. Contact phone:6231 2927 www.thelink.org.au

SHIELD
Shield is a community group based in Launceston. They are non funded and like to help contribute to a strong and healthy GLBTIQ community. They are responsible for the popular Bent events held throughout the year, supporting local artists and performers. Profits from events go back to the volunteers who help create them and to their sponsors. Shield’s objective is to keep you informed about what’s happening in your local area and if there isn’t much, add a few events of our own. We’re always open to suggestions, feedback and support. TASUNITY
An ecumenical support and study group. lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people, their families and supporters. Members of the Pilgrim Uniting church formed TasUnity in 1993 out of their concern for the spiritual welfare of the GLBTI community. There are more and more actively Queer-friendly cafés and restaurants around Tasmania. They include Groovy Penguin in Penguin, Fresh on Charles in Launceston, the Deloraine Deli in Deloraine, DS Coffee House in Huonville, the Red Velvet Lounge at Cygnet, Fleurty’s Café in Woodbridge, Citrus Moon Café in Kingston, Kabuki by the Sea near Swansea, and Augusto Café in Lenah Valley.

In the Hobart area Lebrina in New Town is one of Australia’s most awarded restaurants.
