Throughout the year, TasPride hosts a number of key events to celebrate and raise awareness of the Tasmanian GLBTI community.

2010 Artfully Queer Exhibition -
into the wild & OUT

Where are all the wild things? Are they like the truth is out there somewhere, or are they deep inside of us where no-one can find them? What do we mean when we say we're really wild about something or someone? What is wildness? Wilderness? These are some of the questions we hope to answer and ask in into the wild & OUT, the 6th Annual Artfully Queer exhibition of queer Tasmanian art presented by the Gay and Lesbian Community Centre (GLCC ).

The exhibition opens at the Moonah Arts Centre at 6pm on Friday 24 September and runs until Thursday 7 October 2010. Entries are open right now for into the wild & OUT. Entry is open to all members of the Tasmanian GLBTIQ community, their families and friends, and is free for GLCC members. Entries close Friday 10 September 2010.Go wild and get creating!

2010 Artfully Queer Collective Artwork -
Heartland

A much-loved and anticipated part of every Artfully Queer exhibition is the collective artwork. In previous years the exhibition has featured collective artworks made of tiles, jigsaw puzzle pieces, poles, masks and T-shirts. 2010 marks a return to the rainbow tiles but this time our collective artists will become mapmakers as well!

The TasPride mosaic logo is composed of 25 tiles, which means we need 25 artists to claim a tile and start thinking about putting themselves on the map of our heart-shaped island home to create Heartland. If you'd like to join Heartland, please send us your entry form and we'll send you out your tile. Entries close Friday 27 August 2010. Entry is free and open to all members of the Tasmanian GLBTIQ community, their family and friends.

TasPride Festival - November 2010

The biggest celebration of 2010 for the GLBTI community in Tasmania will be taking place right across the state for two weeks from Saturday 30 October to Sunday 14 November. This is a great period for renewing friendships and gaining new ones, with many social activities.

The festival underwent a major transformation in 2009 and has emerged as one of the highlights of the vibrant Tasmanian events calendar, which can be explored in detail at www.discovertasmania.com.

Following the success of last year’s TasPride Festival, we expect 2010 to be even bigger and better.

Sporting a jam-packed schedule of high-quality events, TasPride Festival will bring new visitors to the state, and offers a great opportunity for Tasmania to show off its cultural diversity – and a GLBTI community that is movin’ and shakin’!

If you’ve ever wanted to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Tasmania, the TasPride Festival is the ideal time to come over to the heart-shaped island! This year the Program Guide will include touring options, sample itineraries and special offers for the GLBTI community visiting our shores.

Mardi Gras Parade - March 2011

TasPride is excited to once again produce a Tasmanian float for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Plans are already underway for 2011.

In 2008, Tasmania was represented by over 100 volunteers from all over Tasmania and interstate who quite literally put Tassie on the map. It was the largest float Tasmania had ever entered in the parade. The Tassie Devil's team marched up Oxford Street performing a choreographed routine in front of over half a million spectators.

The Tassie team also took part in the 2009 parade - launching the TasPride brand to the world. The overall parade theme of ‘Nations United’ gave us a great opportunity to fly the flag for Tasmania and celebrate the strong and united Tasmanian GLBTI community. The costumes were decorated with the iconic TasPride branding.
