Dean Duggan

Dean Duggan - president

Dean became involved with TasPride while it was still known as the GLC Centre, about 6 years ago.   Dean likes organising social events but namely joined the committee to help organise the first Artfully Queer Art Exhibition and the collective art piece.   Fine art collecting and art in general is his primary hobby.

"Since then, and especially over the past 2 years as the President, I have enjoyed volunteering with a wonderful group and enthusiastic committee that have brought to you and our Tasmanian GLBTIQ community, family and friends the TasPride brand," says Dean.

Dean is a member of the TasCAHRD HIV/AIDS and Gay Men's Health Program Advisory Group and also helps out with some League of Gentlefellows gatherings.

He has been a past Chairperson on the Greater Hobart Community Liaison Committee and a founding member of the Coming Out Proud Program.

In 2008, Dean was awarded the CPSU - Ogilvie Jennings Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Tasmanian Community.

Through his volunteering roles, past and present, he aims to create an inclusive society for Tasmania's sexual and gender-diverse community, where everyone can be proud of, and express who they really are.

Dean sees TasPride as belonging to the Tasmanian GLBTIQ community, their family and friends believes with your contribution – however great or small – we can all help to make Tasmania an even more beautiful and accepting place to live.
